Born when when a group of hardworking Yorkshire pig farmers joined forces to mill their own feed in 1975,. With some good old-fashioned Yorkshire pragmatism, Cranswick has gone from strength to strength.
By the early 1980s, the business expanded to include food production. At this point, we became one of the first companies to offer a true farm to fork proposition. Today Cranswick are one of the UK’s leading fresh food producers.
Weber have been celebrating perfect BBQs since 1952 and it all started when George Stephen Sr. invented the kettle barbecue in Chicago from a simple marine buoy. One of the world's leading providers with the most comprehensive range of products and services in the industry, today Weber is internationally synonymous with barbecuing innovation, perfect barbecue products and the ultimate barbecue experience.
On the 24th and 25th May, join us in the grounds of The Talbot Hotel in Malton, North Yorkshire for a celebration of outdoor, barbecue and fire cooking. In association with Visit Malton, our event will be taking place alongside The Malton Food Lovers Festival to add a smoke and flame kissed tinge to the long running food festival that will be in full swing in and around the picturesque streets of Malton.
The Grill and Smoke Festival is taking place in the grounds of The Talbot Hotel in Malton town centre, right on the banks of the river Derwent. Malton is approximately 20 minutes from York and 30 minutes from Scarborough on the edge of the North Yorkshire Moors. Malton is situated just off the A64 between York and Scarborough.
The Food Lovers festival will be taking place throughout the heart of the town so no parking is available in the town centre, however the Food Lovers Festival will be running park and ride services in to the town. Please visit the Food Lovers Festival website for details.
Access to the Grill and Smoke Festival is through the main entrance on Yorkersgate and car park of The Talbot Hotel. This access is down some stairs and a slope. Our accessible access is through the carpark located just off Yorkersgate opposite the junction with Market Street (approx. 70m to the east of the main entrance to The Talbot Hotel) where towards the bottom of the carpark by the river, you will see a main access gate for the hotel. This entrance does not involve any stairs and is pathed until you reach the festival field. Please however bear in mind that the festival is on grass and does include some slopes.
Once you join us on the festival site we will have two distinct areas. Towards the river at the bottom of the festival will be The Whole Hog BBQ Comp, seventeen teams competing in seven rounds of barbecue cooking competition. You can watch the teams in action and watch all the entries being judged by our panel of judges in the Cranswick judging area.
At the top of the festival we will have the Weber Barbecue Theatre for you to watch and get involved with chefs and barbecue cooks cooking up barbecue treats. Then finally we have a selection of local and national traders in our barbecue shopping area. From hot sauces to mini smokers, there is something for everyone.
